The Strategic Support Center (SSC) is a network of professionals, researchers, activists, and polling firms working to support European Union advocacy coalitions in the fight for powerful EU legislation on deforestation, which would regulate the placement of products associated with deforestation and forest degradation on EU markets. Organized by Meridian Institute with funding from the Moore Foundation, the SSC has already provided coalition groups with a host of tools and resources, including databases to track opposition arguments, reports used for legislative briefings, and widely covered opinion polling revealing that an overwhelming majority of EU voters—across nationalities and political parties—support a strong regulation on deforestation in EU markets.
